2009 PICNIC
The MCCGJA Annual Picnic was resurrected on September 22nd at Samuel P. Taylor Park. 28+ members and guests enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in the Redwoods – a great time was had by all.
A huge thanks to Ed Schulze for reviving the annual picnic and reserving such a beautiful setting in the Redwood Grove at SPT Park. Also, a big thanks to co-chairs of our Social Committee, Ann Marie Melanephy and Mary Arthur, for assisting Ed in putting it all together.
Ed grilled abalone, burgers and "tube steaks" (a.k.a. hotdogs), and members and guests provided all kinds of treats to share. Ed's elk chili, elk sausage, and "outhouse" Margaritas were a huge success.
Here is our chef hard at work.
Reva Saper got one of the first “tastes”.
Stu Brown mastered the grill, flipping burgers and rotating the hotdogs. A crew was kept busy making “out-house margaritas” that kept the folks refreshed.
A fabulous array of shared salads and desserts was supplemented with abalone, elk chili, and elk sausage.
A fine pot of Starbucks coffee was perked on the Coleman stove to complete a great day at Samuel P. Taylor State Park, Redwood Grove picnic area.
Bernie Bolger taught some of us how to play Rummyquib and Russ Brubaker and Reva Saper instructed some very rusty bridge players on how to play the game.
Here are some miscellaneous pictures taken during the event.
